Prefix Hunt

Keaton, Jamiee, and Laquisha hard at work.
We have had a GREAT start to a FANTASTIC school year! This week we began learning about prefixes. We have known about prefixes for several years. This year we learned about new prefixes! We were able to tell Ms. Strum that a prefix goes at the beginning of a base or root word. Prefixes also CHANGE the meaning of the root and base word.
Hard at work on our prefix tree map!

After Ms. Strum introduced us to NEW prefixes, Ms. Strum told us that we were going to make a Prefix Tree Map on old and new prefixes. Ms. Strum divided us into groups and we were to work as a group looking in various resources to find words with prefixes. We then identified the prefix in each word and determined the meaning of the word

We did a fabulous time working together and making our Prefix Tree Map! We have learned so much since we started 4th grade this year! Please come by and see all the work that we have been doing within our classroom!
